Years ago, in a different lifetime, I worked in film production in Florida. In 1993, just as I was graduating with a B.A. in English Literature, I made cold calls to production companies in the Tampa Bay area. One of my first calls was to a company called C.B. & Reid, where an enthusiastic voice answered my pitch with a "yeah, why don't you come on over to Ybor City..." That voice belonged to producer Tom Reid. Just two years later, I was entrusted to be the production coordinator for a documentary shot in El Salvador by the inestimable cinematographer Charlie Bregg (the C.B. of C.B. & Reid). Later, when the first video editor fell short of their expectations, Tom and Charlie asked me to step in. While it won a Silver Remi award from the Houston Worldfest (1996), the film did not find distribution...until now (2013), through Vimeo, 18 years later (my lord!).
